Aloka 500 Settings

External Settings:

These are fairly simple however it is far too easy for them to change for a variety of reasons. This is a list of the settings that should be checked every time before you begin scanning. You should also monitor these during the scan session. Any images collected with incorrect settings can and will be rejected.

  1. Magnification at 1.5X
  2. Overall gain set to 90
  3. Near gain -25
  4. Far gain 2.1
  5. Focal zones 1 & 2
  6. Arrow pointed left (image reversed)
  7. 17 cm (tick marks) across the top or your image

Internal Settings:

These are accessed by using the Menu button. Check these at the start of a scan session. If you have to make changes, do so, shut your machine down, restart and then verify that the settings are now correct.

  1. FrmCo – Frame correlation turned to AUTO
  2. Cont – Contrast set to 4
  3. AGC – set to 1

Attaching the video cable:

There are two BNC video connectors on the back of your 500 console. You need to connect your CUP Box to the bottom connector. There is a switch that sits directly to the left of the two BNC connectors. This needs to be flipped to the down position. You will not capture any images if this is done incorrectly.

Precautions:

Never attach or remove your probe from the console with the power plugged on or the console plugged into your power source. It is also recommended that you not ever power up your machine without a probe attached. Failure to follow these precautions can result in damage to your machine.
